That is an important distinction: an inventory is a documented accounting, not a measurement taken at a stack or a tailpipe. The method is what makes the number defensible, and the method is written down.

For cities: local government operations inventories use GHG Protocol methods. Community-wide inventories use GPC 1.1 where scoped. Where a reduction plan is wanted, the follow-on engagement is an Emissions Reduction Roadmap for community-scale work or an Operational Efficiency Roadmap for organizational operations. Both are climate action plans built to the GHG Protocol Policy and Action Standard.

For businesses: Scope 1 and Scope 2 inventories on an operational control boundary, with Scope 3 screened where a customer questionnaire or supply chain request makes it relevant.

Along the Wasatch Front, an engagement includes an onsite kickoff and facility walk-through: nameplates read, refrigerant charges confirmed, and the equipment list checked against what is actually standing in the building. Outside driving range, the work is delivered remotely, and that is the default for businesses in other states.

Both modes apply the same standards, the same procedures and the same emission factors. They do not produce the same evidentiary depth, and we say so rather than pretending otherwise. A remote engagement is built from the records and images you provide, tested against independent documentation rather than entered as given. Where something cannot be confirmed, the report says so and quantifies what it costs in certainty.

Utah Cities and Towns

We typically work with Utah cities between about 3,000 and 80,000 residents. Population is an indicator of scope, not a gate; what actually sets the size of the work is facility count, whether the city owns its wastewater plant or landfill, fleet size, and refrigerant load. We work with what you already have, meaning utility accounts, fleet logs and facility records, and deliver results that hold up to scrutiny. Most cities start with a Local Government Operations inventory covering what they directly control, then add a community-wide inventory when the question broadens.

Small and Medium Businesses

Operationally complex companies, including HVAC, construction, landscaping, plumbing, cold chain and charter schools, that need a defensible number because a customer asked for one. Fleet fuel, facility energy and refrigerant leakage are usually where it concentrates, and refrigerants are the source most often missed entirely.

We Walk the Facilities

A Standard Delivery engagement includes an onsite walk-through with nameplate capture and an asset cross-check. That is how equipment gets found that the asset list forgot: a rooftop unit nobody logged, a refrigerant charge nobody recorded, a meter serving two buildings. Firms working at this engagement size generally do not do this, and it is the single biggest reason our numbers hold up. Where a site visit is not practical, the same cross-check runs against independent records and the photographs you supply, and the report states which mode was used.
